A new discovery

A few days ago Joel & I went on a little trail behind our house. I had never taken this trail and I was amazed at how beautiful it really was. I'm so glad I've found such a peaceful place to get away, and better yet its in my backyard! The trail was wooded and naturally Ava became ate up with flees, but it led to a gorgeous blue lake. This new discovery definitely reminded me to count my blessings. Here are a few pictures we took along the way, some are taken on the property we live and the rest are on the trail. Enjoy!

Morning Virtue

A few nights ago, my husband was reading before we went to sleep and started to read out loud about virtue. Since then that word has been stuck in my mind.
The definition of Virtue is: Virtue (Latin: virtus, Greek: ἀρετή "arete") is moral excellence. A virtue is a trait or quality deemed to be morally excellent and thus is valued as a foundation of principle and good moral being.
It gets me thinking about the patterns I live out daily. Are they virtuous? Does my morals and standards reflect having Virtue? Being gentle, forgiving, loyal, confident, compassionate, honest, sensitive, considerate, and determined are all examples virtues I want to live out every day. I pray God will allow me to pattern these characteristics in my daily life, no matter how crazy my surroundings may be.  I encourage all of you to take a few moments to see what having Virtue really is.
Have a fantastic day everyone!

Virginia is for Lovers

Last week Joel & I had the pleasure of visiting my parents in Virginia. And needless to say we had a wonderful time. Virginia is a very special place for Joel & I, as it is the place where we met & fell in love, instantly. Many do not believe in love at first sight, but I happen to be one who believes in it the same way I believe the sky is blue & the grass is green. To anyone who thinks it is impossible to find love I would say you should evaluate you walk with Christ. Living a life strayed from God left me with nothing but failed hopes and disastrous attempts of any kind of relationships. Finding my way to Christ allowed me to receive what he had planned for me all along. Giving yourself to the Lord gives you the greatest reward anyone could imagine, and that is his will in your life.

Being in Virginia sure did bring back a lot of those feelings I felt the first time I met Joel. As we were walking through the airport to meet my parents at the luggage terminal I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with emotion as we walked by the place I saw him for the first time. And there it was...I fell in love all over.

Valentines Day also was part of our little get away. That day we all boarded a train and set out for Washington D.C. It was a stunning day, the sun shined all day. This was of course our first Valentines Day, not only as a married couple but first time ever! Walking hand in hand we saw many historical sites, visited a lot of museums, but nothing was as meaningful as the sight I saw when stopped at a cross walk, where I turned around & saw Joel there buying some fresh cut roses at a little flower stand. Something so simple became something so beautiful.

We ended our trip with a dinner at a Brazilian Steakhouse, I do believe we ate an entire cow! I would say we got our money's worth! It was oh so yummy! If you ever have a chance to eat at a restaurant like that, do it...splurge...you will love it!

Here are a few pictures of our fabulous trip!

Welcome to my brand new blog

I am so excited to start this new little hobby of mine called blogging! There is no telling what may show up on here, but that's the joy of it all right? I tend to be one of those girls who at any given time of day has a million thoughts running through her head...so I must say I am looking forward to releasing some of that craziness here on my blog. I have had a passion for writing for a long time, since childhood actually, but I never was too good at keeping a steady pattern of writing in a journal. I would always make a promise to "keep it up this time"....but that never happened. But the way I see it is its never to late to try again!

True...I am a newlywed...so I may be a little partial to discussing my amazing husband. I am a very fortunate woman and I would not want to live my life any other way than the way God has so greatly blessed me with. My life consist of simple pleasures like riding with my sunroof open...which my husband for some reason hates...and just as the window hits the bottom and your driving on a beautiful country road you discover the radio doesn't need to be on, because the peace I find when the warm air blows in is far more enjoyable. I often find that as a time to feel God's embrace and see his incredible work at hand.  Other things that keep me happy are playing with my baby Ava, reading, morning coffee... and I truly believe any coffee drinker would say there is just nothing like that first cup of joe! But my favorite part of the day is at night when my husband and I make our way to snuggle up. I'm usually on the computer or reading and he's usually reading as well, Ava is right in between us, and of course my man Jimmy Fallon is on with his unbelievable entertaining thank you cards!

I hope you enjoyed my first posting, I'm sure not as much as I enjoyed writing it, but I bet you feel my drift :)
Coming up soon will be a peak into our Alabama home, and some much needed landscaping!

Love to all, Goodnight!
